International Seminars
The six International Seminars of the 2016 Specializing Master will be held by:

  Prof. Karl Chu - Pratt Institute, New York - November 7, 2016. Director of METAXY architecture firm. Before teaching at the School of Architecture at the Pratt Institute, he founded and directed the Institute for Genetic Architecture at the Columbia University. He was co-director of the Biodigital Architecture Programme at the ESARQ Universitat Internacional de Catalunya, Barcelona. He conducts research in the field of genetic architecture and ontologies for architecture of possible worlds. He has taught, published and exhibited internationally.
  Prof. Roberto Camagni, Polytechnic University of Milan - November 28, 2016. Professor of Urban Economics, is director of the research group on Regional and Urban Economics. An expert in regional and urban development, territorial analysis of the diffusion of technology and innovation, assessment of urban transformation processes. He has carried out research for the European Union, the OECD, the French Ministère de l'Equipement, the Department for Community Policies of the Presidency of the Council and a number of regions and municipalities in Italy and Europe.
  Prof. Roland Snooks - RMIT - January 23, 2017. Founder and partner of kokkugia, a group that explores generative design methodologies and the ability to self-organise of complex systems. Adopting multi-agent algorithms, his research adds to the project the logics of collective intelligence and swarm architecture. He supervises the Architectural Robotics Lab at the RMIT University. He has taught and lectured at numerous international universities, including Columbia, University of Pennsylvania, SCI-Arc, Pratt Institute, UCLA, USC, Harvard, Yale, Aalto University, Polytechnic University of Milan and AA.DRL.
  Prof. Hernan Diaz Alonso - SCI-Arc, Los Angeles - February 20, 2017. Founder and director of Studio Xefirotarch, Hernan Diaz Alonso is director of the School of Architecture SCI-Arc in Los Angeles of which he has been a member of the Faculty since 2001, fulfilling several positions in the Master's programmes; he has been widely credited with spearheading the transition of SCI-Arc to digital technologies, shaping the school’s graduate curriculum. Xefirotarch is considered one of the most influential and visionary International Studios of architecture, winning important prizes, awards, as well as being part of the permanent collections at the FRAC and MOMA centres.
  Prof. Tom Wiscombe - SCI-Arc, Los Angeles - March 20, 2017. The work of Tom Wiscombe Design, already EMERGENT, is based on experimentations which exert leverage on techniques and logics coming from areas outside architecture and identify with the "Bioconstructivism" movement. The works of the Studio have been presented at major international exhibitions: Biennials of Shenzhen, Beijing, London, MoMA, ArchiLab and are a point of widespread attention from critics. Tom Wiscombe regularly conducts lectures and seminars at major international universities. He is professor of digital design at the School of Architecture in Los Angeles.
  Prof. Herwig Baumgartner - SCI-Arc, Los Angeles - April 24, 2017. Graduated in music and new media, he studied architecture at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. He currently teaches design in the three-year programme and Master at the SCI-Arc master in Los Angeles and previously at the University of California (UCLA). On a professional level, after the experience at Gehry Partners as an associate and project architect, in 2000 he founded in Los Angeles, BplusU for which he is both partner and design principal. He has collaborated with Richard Serra in the creation of large-scale sculptures in New Zealand, Naples, Toronto and San Francisco.
