Announced at HOST 2015 the three winners of the International Competition held by Host - Fiera Milano and POLI.design, under the patronage of ADI, the Association for Industrial Design.

1st prize (4.000 €): FUORI PASTO, by Federica Sciacca and Maria Letizia Tedeschi
2nd prize (2.000 €): Mio, by Estephania Largaespada and Adrian Valerio
3rd prize (1.000 €): Scene, by Roberto Ferrini and Megan Lueneburg
 
 
Took place on Friday, October 23, at the EXHIS Area of HOST 2015, the International Exhibition of Ho.Re.Ca and Retail held in Rho from October 23 to 27, the award ceremony of HOSThinking, a design award, the International Competition on new formats of hospitality promoted by Host - Fiera Milano and POLI.design – Consorzio del Politecnico di Milano, under the patronage of ADI, the Association for Industrial Design.
 
Right on the opening day of the exhibition Roberto RettaniChairman of Fiera Milano SpA, and Matteo O. IngaramoGeneral Director of POLI.design, announced the three winning projects.
 
Winner of the contest and of the first prize of 4.000 € is FUORI PASTO, by Federica Sciacca and Maria Letizia Tedeschi, a product-service designed to provide more opportunities for culinary and cultural contamination: a shelf is installed outside the window of the partecipating restaurants, it creates a second distribution channel, faster and cheaper, so the kitchen comes straight to the consumer on the road. The project is also supported by an app for locating restaurants, showing dishes, costs and appreciation.
 
 
Second place (with 2.000 € prize) to Mio, of Estephania Largaespada and Adrian Valerio: with its new interactive immersion, it integers the use augmented reality where clients can personalize
the ambience of the restaurant allowing them to have a richer experience.
 
 
Third prize (1.000 €), finally, to Scene, by Roberto Ferrini and Megan Lueneburg: a concept of cocktail bar where stories and identities of local restaurants are presented to the public, in a location designed to maximize interaction between people and provide accessibility to the local culinary scene.
 
 
The three winning projects were selected by the Jury among the 10 finalists, chosen for their proposals that qualify a new way of experiencing the hospitality industry.
 
The Jury of the competition, composed of Giuliano Simonelli, President of POLI.design, Armando Bruno, CEO of Studio Marco Piva, Chiara Caberlon, Partner of Caberloncaroppi ItalianTouchArchitects associated firm, Luisa Collina, Full Professor and delegate of the rector of Politecnico di Milano for Expo2015, and Luciano Galimberti, President of ADI, Association for Industrial Design, has expressed its satisfaction with the results of the contest. 
 
The second edition of the event, in fact, continued to be a success, as evidenced not only by the high quality of the presented projects, but also by the numerous applications received, more than 140, from Italy and from all over the world.
 
All projects which have reached the final phase of the competition were displayed at HOST 2015 in an exhibition within the Innovation Gallery (Pavillion 18).

In contemporary Professional Hospitality an increasing role is played by planning understood as the ability to combine technical innovation, functionality and aesthetics, to create products and formats that respond in an effective and engaging way to the demands of increasingly demanding and "design-aware" consumers. And that has always been found in Host - International Hospitality Exhibition, at Fiera Milano in Rho, from Friday 23 to Tuesday, October 27, 2015: the reference point where companies from around the world present a preview of the new cutting edge.
 
From this concept and reflection on its evolution and on practices and trends, once again we present "HOSThinking, a design award"a new edition of the international competition held by Host-Fiera Milano and POLI.design, Consorzio del Politecnico di Milano, to reward the best in the field of new formats of hospitality.
 
10 projects have been passed to the final phase of the international contest.
The jury met on June 9, to discuss the more than 60 project proposals received, and evaluated them based on the general innovativeness of the product/location/service, the consistency of the elements of the idea and the integration of the experiential values into the proposal. These designers convinced the jury thanks to their proposals that qualify a new way of experiencing the hospitality industry:

The jury, composed of prestigious industry experts such as Giuliano Simonelli, President of POLI.design, Armando Bruno, CEO of Studio Marco Piva, Chiara Caberlon, Partner of Caberloncaroppi ItalianTouchArchitects associated firm, Luisa Collina, Professor at the Politecnico di Milano and Luciano Galimberti, President of ADI, Association for Industrial Design, wanted to reward the most innovative Ho.Re.Ca. trends
 
Specifically, the design concept had to propose a service that involves a new experience and an increased involvement of consumers, as well as new ways of using, based on the trend of the evolution of consumption and presenting a complete scenario and futuristic in terms of services, products, artwork, space, equipment etc. the concepts must be able to conjugate service and experience, products offered and space/container in such a way as to offer a complete and coherent project.
 
 
The second edition of the event was a success, as shown not only by the high quality of the projects, but also by the numerous applications received from Italy and from all over the world. The applications received for the contest numbered more than 140, with a very positive response at the international level: Norway, Spain, Germany, Canada, Brazil, Costa Rica, Thailand and China were just some of the countries involved.
 
The date for HOST 2015, the international hospitality industry exhibition is now set for Friday, 23 October; the world leader of the Ho.Re.CA and Retail sector will be held at FieraMilano in Rho from 23rd to 27th October 2015 and it will be possible to admire the 10 finalist projects, which will be showcased in a dedicated area within the event, and to discover the 3 winners of the event who will share the prize pool of € 7,000 as follows:

After a successful first edition, which saw 180 applications, 71 projects and 18 proposals presented in the exhibition at HOST 2013, we repeat open challenge to designers and professionals from around the world to present their innovative visions for a place in the professional hospitality field HO.RE.CA (Hotel, Restaurant, Catering) and Retail
 
Specifically, the design concept should propose a service that involves a new experience and an increased involvement of consumers, as well as new ways of using, based on the trend of the evolution of consumption and presenting a complete scenario and futuristic in terms of services, products, artwork, space, equipment etc. the concepts must be able to conjugate service and experience, products offered and space/container in such a way as to offer a complete and coherent project.
 
All participants will have until March 30, 2015 to submit their personal or group applications, while the delivery of projects is fixed instead at April 30, 2015. The projects should in every case be new and developed specifically for this contest.
 
Then it's up to a jury of experts made up of representatives from academics, industry professionals and experts in the field of hospitality, who will identify a shortlist of a maximum of 15 proposals that will be broken down by quality and relevance to the initiative. Each designer selected at this point will produce a scale model of their projects and presentation boards that will be on display in a dedicated area within HOST 2015, The International Exhibition of the Hospitality Industry, the world's leading Ho.Re.Ca and Retail trade show, at Fiera Milano, Rho, from Friday 23 to Tuesday, October 27, 2015.
Within HOST 2015 an ad hoc event will be dedicated to announcing the 3 finalists and the winning proposal.
 
The total prize money of 7,000 euros, will be distributed as follows:
1st prize € 4000
2nd prize € 2000
3rd prize € 1000
