Convertible side table\u201d of Mattia Fossati.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Total prizes: \u20ac 10.000<\/strong><br \/>\nInformation and Regulations at: www.porada.it<\/p>\n<p>Find out more about the winners <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polidesign.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/PORADA-2013_compendio-vincitori_ENG_low.pdf\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The jury of the<strong>\u00a0PORADA INTERNATIONAL DESIGN AWARD 2013<\/strong>\u00a0has just announced the winners of this competition: an event sponsored by\u00a0<strong>Porada Arredi sr<\/strong>l, a leading company in the furnishings and fittings sector, and <strong>POLI.design, with the additional support of the\u00a0Association of Industrial Design (ADI).<\/strong> The announcement took place at\u00a0<strong>Palazzo Natta<\/strong>, administrative centre of the Como Campus of Milan Polytechnic.<\/p>\n<p>There were six\u00a0winners\u00a0in all,\u00a03 in the Professional category and 3 in the student category, who were judged to have entered fully into the spirit of the competition. They presented six original and inventive projects involving\u00a0various types of wooden table, all in line with the distinctive values of a prestigious Italian design brand such as Porada. \u00a0The total prize money of \u20ac10,000 will therefore be divided between these six winners.<\/p>\n<p>For the PROFESSIONALS category:<br \/>\n1\u00b0 prize: Regina Antonopoulou, Stylianos Axiotakis, \u201cLOPE, Extendable Dining Table\u201d, total prize: \u20ac 3.000<br \/>\n2\u00b0 prize: \u00a0Luigi Tagliabue, Manuela Emanuelli, \u201cvoLovia\u201d, total prize \u20ac 2.000<br \/>\n3\u00b0 prize: Jacopo M. Giagnoni, \u201cBow\u201d, total prize \u20ac 1.000<\/p>\n<p>For the STUDENTS category:<br \/>\n1\u00b0 prize: Mattia Fossati, \u201cIcs. Convertible side table\u201d, total prize \u20ac 2.000<br \/>\n2\u00b0 prize: Bence Kov\u00e0csik, total prize \u20ac 1.200<br \/>\n3\u00b0 prize: Jie Gao, Guangkai Chen, Yingying He, \u201cFloding wood\u201d, total prize \u20ac 800<\/p>\n<p>The six high quality designs stood out from among the 379 projects presented to the judging panel: 284 in the Professional category, and 95 in the Student category. There were many submissions from Italy, but the response at international level was also very positive: Iran, Israel, Greece, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, India and Japan were just some of the countries involved.<\/p>\n<p>The winning design in the\u00a0Professional category\u00a0was called\u00a0\u201cLope\u201d: an extendable dining-table constituted partly of solid ash and partly of matt-effect white aluminium. The latter element adds a very contemporary touch, elegantly enclosing the wooden section of the table. The intention of the two Greek designers,\u00a0Regina Antonopoulou and Stylianos Axiotakis, was to express our relationship with nature, an aim reflected in the form of the table-legs, inspired by those of an antelope.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Student category, on the other hand, produced an Italian winner:\u00a0Mattia Fossati\u00a0took the first prize in this category with\u00a0\u201cIcs, Convertible side table\u201d: a versatile side table, designed to be adaptable to a range of uses.<br \/>\nMounted on a rotatable solid walnut base, the Ics can be transformed into a breakfast tray, a coffee-table or a bedside table. The table-top\/tray is fitted with small magnets, and so can be easily removed during the rotation process and then reconnected.
