Carlo Bertorello
Bio
Carlo Bertorello Naval Architect, Ph. D., has been involved in yachts and yacht design for over 40 years. He was responsible for the yacht construction at the Azzurra Syndicate for the America’s Cup 87 and Head of Marine Division at S.A.I. Ambrosini where he directed the construction of two maxi yachts, Longobarda and Il Moro III, both world champions. He has designed one-off and serial production pleasure craft, racing powerboats and High Speed Craft for the Marine Services of several State Authorities. He has been responsible for the construction of the Yacht Sailing Lab of the Lecco University Campus. At present he is Associate Professor at University of Naples Federico II where he holds the courses of Ship Design, Small Craft Design and AMV Design. He is Professor of Ship Stability at Italian Navy Academy and gives lectures of Naval Architecture and Marine Construction at Master Course of Yacht Design of POLIMI since 2001. Beside teaching, he is involved in experimental research at the Laboratory of Hydrodynamic Experiences of University of Naples, and in scientific press editing.
