Alessandra Canfield Petrecca is a doctoral researcher at Politecnico di Milano and a member of the LeNSlab Polimi research group focused on design and system innovation for sustainability. Her research explores the integration of digital technology and socio-ethical strategies within Sustainable Product-Service Systems (S.PSS), with particular emphasis on the ethical management of data and its implications for democratic resilience. In her teaching, she guides students through the principles of product and service system innovation, encouraging critical reflection on how S.PSS models can contribute to sustainability within socio-technical settings.
Alessandra holds a Master’s degree in Production and Utilisation Systems in Design from UFPR, as well as qualifications in Industrial Design, Furniture Design Technology, Business Management, and Project Management. Before joining Politecnico di Milano, she gained experience in project management, development, and research roles across Brazil and Europe. Her professional trajectory encompasses product, visual, and service design projects in both commercial and academic environments.
Drawing on her multidisciplinary expertise, Alessandra has developed and delivered courses, workshops, and collaborative projects focused on sustainable innovation. Her recent teaching activities are dedicated to equipping students with the knowledge and analytical skills required to design and evaluate Product-Service Systems that advance ethical, social, and environmental objectives in contemporary design practice.
