AI for Good

Join us for the next AI4Gov Dialogue on July 17th at 5:00 PM (CET) — an opportunity to explore the ethical boundaries of Artificial Intelligence for public services.

What AI should do: the focus of the event

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to advance at remarkable speed, the global conversation is shifting from what AI can do to what it should do. Governments, researchers, and practitioners are increasingly seeking ways to ensure that AI serves the public interest —promoting equity, inclusion and sustainability rather than reinforcing past mistakes or structural biases.

In this AI4Gov Dialogue, we take stock of the growing global momentum around AI for Good.

Drawing insights from recent international events: the UNESCO Conference on Capacity Building on AI and Digital Transformation in the Public Sector (Paris, 4-5 June 2025), the United Nations Public Services Forum 2025 (Samarkand, 23-25 June 2025), the UNESCO 2025 Global Forum on the Ethics of AI (Bangkok, 24-27 June 2025), and the “combined” World Summit on the Information Society High-Level Event (WSIS+20) and the AI for Good Global Summit (Geneva, 7-11 July 2025) the roundtable will bring together voices from these events to explore: what does it really take to make AI work for people and society?

During the dialogue, the following questions will be addressed:

  • How can we move from high-level ethical principles to concrete practices and guidance that support their implementation in real-world contexts?
  • What kinds of skills do public organizations need to govern and use AI responsibly and how can these competencies support deeper, long-term transformation of public institutions?
  • How can public organizations address the risks of adopting AI — both in their internal processes and in the services they deliver — to ensure that innovation strengthens, rather than undermines, public service legitimacy and institutional trust?

Here are the speakers who will take the floor:

  • Vincenzo Aquaro, Chief of Digital Government, United Nations DESA Public Institutions and Digital Government
  • Cecilia Celeste Danesi, Professor and researcher in Artificial Intelligence and Civil Law at the School of Law of the University of Buenos Aires
  • Luana Lo Piccolo, Senior Advisor on AI Governance and Legal Strategy, Expert of the EU Plenary for the first AI Code of Practice

Gianluca Misuraca (AI4Gov Founding Executive Director / Head of the AI4Gov International Scientific Committee and Advisory Board) will moderate the roundtable.

The AI4Gov Dialogue is organized as an interactive conversation open to all professionals, public sector employees and researchers engaged in the future of responsible AI governance and introduces the next edition of the Specializing Master in Artificial Intelligence for Public Services.

Register here to participate — don’t miss it on July 17th at 5:00 PM (CET)!
