AI Governance and Data Ethics

An online webinar to explore how data is collected, shared, and used, and what moral questions these practices raise for public institutions and society, with a focus on AI.

On Friday, May 23rd at 5:00 PM, we will delve into one of the most urgent issues in public affairs. “AI Governance and Data Ethics” explores how data is collected, shared, and used — and the complex moral questions these practices raise for public institutions and society at large. This AI4Gov Dialogue will help examine how ethical principles can guide the responsible development and deployment of AI in the public sector. From algorithmic accountability to data justice, the conversation will focus on the reasons why strong governance frameworks are essential for ensuring that AI serves the public good, and why ethics must be be at the heart of digital governance.

Speakers will include Gianluca Misuraca (AI4Gov Founding Executive Director / Head of the AI4Gov International Scientific Committee and Advisory Board), Andrea Renda (Director of Research at CEPS and Part-time Professor at the European University Institute) and Alan R. Shark (Associate professor in the School of Policy and Government at George Mason University). The session will be moderated by Gianluca Misuraca himself, who will be joined by topic experts to engage with the audience.

The “AI Governance and Data Ethics” themes are also at the core of the Specializing Master in Artificial Intelligence for Public Services, a program stemming from the collaboration between Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and the Politecnico di Milano, and managed by POLI.design. Within our educational journey, we pay attention to data visualization techniques as well as other creative approaches to handling data and analyzing existing systems and services using AI. At the same time, we offer an overview of general concepts and the legal framework for AI in Europe, with particular attention to “privacy and data protection.”
