The Internet of Things is among the common trends in award-winning solutions, such as the ability to introduce digital connections between different products, to improve user experience.
Space for innovation and “intelligent” products and services and increasingly sensitive to the theme of savings (energy, economic and time).
Space therefore to innovative and “smart” products and services, increasingly sensitive to the issue of savings (energy, money and time).
An emphasis on sustainability, energy saving, water and, of course, time and staff work – commentary by Gillian Crampton Smith (H-Farm Education) – Also note the use of sensors and connectivity that allow great hospitality chains to make the best use of their resources, achieving considerable cost savings.
Trend, which leaves wide margins of evolution, in which SMART Label intends to become a spokesperson, as reaffirmed by POLI.design General Director, Matteo O. Ingaramo: HOST’s push to present the best in a catalog of innovative ideas capable of employing technology in an advanced and useful way, involving the appreciation of users and society. This is a positive point of view that puts this initiative, the fair and its exhibitors at the top of the technological and commercial offer in the hospitality sector on a global scale.
The products awarded with the SMART Label and Innovation SMART Label plates will be placed in the Smart Label Index catalog and displayed at HOSTMilano 2017, where a dedicated exhibition will give more visibility to award-winning solutions.
The return of the HOST – Fiera Milano and POLI.design award dedicated to the top pioneering products and companies in the Ho.Re.Ca. sector at HOSTMilano 2017
The Internet of things is the focus of the latest edition
New Deadline for applications: May 30, 2017.
SMART Label, the award for innovation in the professional hospitality industry promoted by Host – Fiera Milano, in collaboration with POLI.design, founded by Politecnico di Milano, returns with a new edition aimed at all companies attending HOSTMilano 2017, the leading global event in the hotel, catering, food service, retail and retail distribution sector, scheduled at Fiera Milano, Rho, from Friday 20 to Tuesday 24 October 2017.
SMART Label has geared itself towards innovation and ease of use in these early releases; a trend that’s even more apparent with the latest edition, which has been eagerly anticipated in the industry as a crucial opportunity and a driver for change.
The use of the Internet of things is actually one of the main requirements for the award: special mention will be made of entries that connect different products digitally for improved user interaction.
The prize aims to promote the most advanced solutions from companies exhibiting at the 40th Fair, with two distinct categories of award:
SMART Label: for products with unique innovative content in terms of functionality, technology, environmental sustainability and ethical and social implications;
Innovation SMART Label: for products with highly innovative content that seek to break up and overcome established industry trends.
The third SMART Label award in 2017 aims to repeat the great success of past events, which attracted a total of 318 nominations, the participation of companies from a wide range sectors – as diverse as furniture, professional catering, tea and coffee, bars, coffee machines and tableware – and the award of 98 SMART Labels and 13 Innovation SMART Labels for the most ground-breaking products.
Participation and Implementation procedures
Until May 30, 2017, companies registered for HOSTMilano 2017 can forward nominations for one of their own products or projects under development, as indicated on the www.host.fieramilano.it and www.polidesign.net websites, using the specially designed template (entries will not be accepted in any other format). Only one entry per company will be accepted.
A jury comprising professors from the Politecnico di Milano and international industry experts will assess all the entries and award the prizes to the products that demonstrate all the requisite elements. The commission will consider three important factors in their assessment, on which they will base their selection:
functional efficiency of the product or service;
effectiveness of product performance or usability of service;
innovation of mode of use and technology and benefits for users.
The winning entries will be awarded the “Label”, a distinctive plaque that will put them in the spotlight at HOSTMilano 2017 and at any future promotional opportunities, and enter them in the Index of “Smart Products” at HOSTMilano 2017, where a dedicated exhibition and a specially designed itinerary will further raise the visibility of these SMART and innovative developments.
