Open Lecture with Tupac Martir, Artist and Founder of Satore Studio
Introduction by Luisa Collina, Dean of the School of Design, Politecnico di Milano
Title: Performative R: A New Technique of Storytelling
Described by Vogue as “the visual artist and director behind some of the most important events in the world”, Tupac Martir is a creative icon. He is the founder of the multidisciplinary creative studio Satore Studio and has worked with clients like Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Beyonce and Diageo. His most recent Radiance Film Festival award-winning piece ‘Cosmos Within Us’. As a multidisciplinary interactive VR experience designed to evoke the experience of living with Alzheimer’s.
Martir will be introducing his concept of Performative-R, a term he recently coined as a result of his most recent accomplishment – Cosmos Within Us. An award winning immersive virtual reality piece with a performance art twist, in which a single headset wearer drives the narrative for an audience as large as 150 people.
The event is organized by the Master Progettare Cultura, the first level joint training course between Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Politecnico di Milano, managed by Alta Scuola in Media Comunicazione e Spettacolo and POLI.design.
The Master trains new professional figures who create and communicate cultural projects in different fields: visual arts, multimedia and design (as project managers or curators of exhibitions and art interventions), the valorization of the territory based on cultural resources and tourism (as territorial development consultants for local authorities). The Master also aims to train self-entrepreneurship to give life to new cultural and social enterprises.
