POLI.design and the Milan Design Week 2024

“INTERDEPENDENCE – designing relationships” is the main contribution of the Politecnico di Milano‘s Design System (of which POLI.design belongs) on the occasion of the Milano Design Week 2024. It focuses on the relationships and connections that characterize our world. It is a city-wide event that gathers the urban fabric, citizens, and visitors. Ecology and natural resources, economic interdependence and supply chain, culture and information, technology, politics and society, welfare, common goods, and food resources: these are the themes the project faces. Indeed, works by Design, Architecture and Engineering students from Politecnico and by Design students from 50 other universities will be on show at the Fabbrica del Vapore, Bovisa Durando Campus, Salone Satellite, and other hot spots around the city. From performances to lectures, guests from all over the world will enrich the program.

The international exhibition (with projects by students from Politecnico’s Design System and other universities) involves a series of initiatives, including the Campo Teatrale’s performance by Simon Waldvogel. Scheduled events also include the exhibition project “Shaping Sustainable Innovations through Design Practice”, curated by Venanzio Arquilla, Patrizia Bolzan and Carlo Emilio Standoli: a selection of prototypes promoting social, environmental and cultural sustainability through transdisciplinary dialogue.

A 1.500-square-metre exhibition where works range from industrial design products to fashion, from interior design projects to furniture and communication, from services to branding strategy, transport, and design engineering.

AD AQUAM
ADI Design Museum, Piazza Compasso D’Oro, 1 | From April 16th to 21st, from 10:30 AM to 10:00 PM

An exhibition stemming from a workshop in collaboration with Rubinetterie Treemme. Students of the Specializing Master in Industrial Design Engineering and Innovation (by POLI.design and Scuola del Design) devised a collection of sustainable bathroom fittings in accordance with the brand’s philosophy. Guided by lecturers Matteo Ingaramo and Federico Elli, assisted by Emanuel Pacelli and coordinated by Eugenia Chiara, young designers focused on water and energy saving as well as low environmental impact. These and other iconic pieces of the company will be on show in one of the temples of Italian and international design.

DESIGN AT THE PEAK

“Design at the Peak” is Saporiti Italia’s intervention: an extraordinary pyramid structure that will host a series of projects born within the “Saporiti Design Experience” workshop in collaboration with POLI.design, Accademia di Brera and Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation. The students of the Master in Furniture Design renewed the iconic Miamina armchair by Salvati & Tresoldi. “Miamina Glimmering Threads”, “Miamina On Ice”, and three other solutions endorse technological innovation, modernity, and the values of sustainability and social responsibility as well.

SPARKS OF INNOVATION

“The Organisational Context for Design” is the third masterclass of the Specializing Master in Service Design . It is an online open talk that will be held in English. Marzia Aricò (Entrepreneur and design leader) will address the issue of the organizational context in design practice.

CHIQUITA HOUSE. POP BY NATURE

POLI.design students will dive into Chiquita’s POP universe. They will discover the immersive, colorful and inclusive rooms of the installation.

BIRKENSTOCK STUDIO
Via Meravigli, 4 | April 19th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM; April 20th and 21st from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM

POLI.design students will get in touch with the brand’s experiential installation. Here, visitors will walk in the sand and discover craft-making activities.

INTERNI CROSS VISION (Educational Day)

The Educational Day activities will take place in the INTERNI’s environment, which include “PATH DREAM” installation by Simone Micheli. During the panel, the POLI.design’s Specializing Master in Interior Design will be presented.
